I give this company 5 stars. The staff who packed my furniture, kitchen, glassware, and collectibles did a fabulous job. Only 1 glass was broken (I... had quite a few). They stored my things until I found my new home. The moving staff was also great. I couldn't believe how quickly the got everything into place. A side note....both the packers and the movers had been with the company a long time. That says volumes about their organization.read more

I needed some valuable China and antiques packed and loaded into a truck. The packers arrived on time. They were efficient, not rushed, and... carefully packed and loaded the truck. They did an outstanding job packing and loading these very fragile items. The items arrived safely at their destination; the packing and careful loading of the truck was critical to that. Kudos to their professional expertise. I highly recommend.read more

After reading enough reviews about horroble moves, one will inevitably become wary and expect the worst. O'Neill totally blew me away with how... professional and kind they were every step of the way. Absolutely awesome team delivered my belongings efficiently and with care up to my third story apartment (with an elevator, but still). Scheduling the delivery was super easy as well despite the delay due to the snow. Truly can't recommend them enough!read more

My mother-in-law‘s house sold in one day. Unfortunately, we were unable to find a long-distance mover with availability before her closing date. We... found one company who had a day available a month after closing, which we were lucky to get, but no availability to pick up her belongings and put them in storage. That left us in the difficult position of having to find a carrier who would be willing to pick up her furniture and hold it in storage for a month. We were very fortunate to find O’Neills. Not only were we able to snag the only day they had availability before the closing date, but the entire experience was positive. Geana and Betsy were very helpful, responding quickly to any of our questions or requests and were great at keeping us informed. The moving crew was very pleasant, careful with my mother-in-law‘s furniture and boxes and had the truck loaded in half the estimated time. All the furniture was carefully padded and we were given use of the pads at no additional cost with the only proviso that all of padding had to be returned at the time of the transfer to the second carrier. The furniture and boxes were in good condition and the transfer to our distance carrier was seamless. I highly recommend O’Neills and want to thank them for their help.read more

The guys were friendly, professional, and were in and out of my house in probably 10 minutes. The only reason I gave this company 4/5 stars is... because I was pretty disappointed to see neither of the guys wearing masks. I understand it’s a choice, however, we are in the middle of a global pandemic and you’re entering my house... of course I completely sanitized everything after they left. But come on, really? Their job is to go in and out of people’s homes. The least they could do is mask up. I’m surprised and again, disappointed that O’Neill doesn’t require them to wear them. Anyway, overall good service.read more

Seattle to Portland Movers

Moving for the First Time?

When planning a move from Seattle to Portland, it is crucial to obtain a clear and comprehensive estimate from a reputable moving company. The estimate should detail the number of items being moved, the distance to be traveled, and any requirements for special care. After accepting the estimate, a moving coordinator will be assigned to manage your relocation. This coordinator will provide an Order of Service document outlining all the details of your move, including the services you’ve chosen, their costs, and estimated completion times.

On the moving day, professional movers will handle your belongings with utmost care. Their responsibilities include loading your items onto the moving truck, transporting them to your new residence in Portland, and unloading them upon arrival. You will receive a Bill of Lading, which lists all your items along with their expected delivery dates and destinations. This document is essential to ensure nothing is lost or misplaced during the transition. Inspecting all items with the team leader once they arrive is advisable to confirm that everything is in good condition.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says, “Companies that operate commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce must be registered with the FMCSA and must have a USDOT Number.” Additionally, reputable movers should carry various forms of insurance, such as liability and cargo insurance, to protect customers’ belongings during the move. These credentials are essential for legal compliance and to ensure customer protection in unforeseen circumstances.

What Insurance Plans or Moving Valuation Do Moving Companies Offer for Long Distance Moves?

Moving companies typically offer several insurance or valuation options to protect customers’ belongings during long-distance moves. These can range from basic released value protection, which provides minimal coverage, to full value protection, which covers the repair, replacement, or reimbursement of damaged or lost items at their full current market value. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration states, “Your mover is responsible for the value of the goods you asked them to transport.” Choosing the right coverage is crucial for peace of mind during relocation.

How Do Moving Companies Handle Claims or Disputes About Lost or Damaged Items?

Reputable moving companies have a formal process for handling claims or disputes regarding lost or damaged items during a move. This process typically involves the customer submitting a claim form detailing the item and the nature of the damage. Move.org says, “The best way to do this is to contact your moving coordinator, and they will walk you through the process of submitting your claim.” The company then assesses the claim, which may include inspecting the items if necessary, and determines the appropriate compensation based on the insurance coverage in place.

At O’Neill Transfer & Storage, we take great care to handle claims and disputes with professionalism and sensitivity. We encourage customers to report any issues as soon as they notice them, ensuring a swift response from our claims department. Our process is designed to be straightforward and transparent, minimizing customer stress. “We handle each claim with the utmost seriousness and commitment to fairness,” assures our president, Bradley Boland. “It is our priority to resolve any issues quickly and to the customer’s satisfaction, maintaining the trust they place in us throughout their move.”

How Long Does It Typically Take to Complete a Move from Seattle to Portland?

The timeframe for a move from Seattle to Portland can vary, primarily influenced by factors such as the volume of items being moved, the type of services required, and overall moving preparation. For straightforward moves where belongings are pre-packed and ready, the transit often takes just a few hours, given the approximate 175-mile distance between the cities. However, if complete packing services are included, the process could extend from a couple of days to a full week, particularly if detailed organization and special handling are involved. Moving.com comments, “Simply put, professional packers save you a ton of time and stress. You also won’t have to worry that your items are going to break or be otherwise damaged during transport.”
