Once you request a moving estimate, you will be paired up with a professional moving specialist, who will be your contact throughout your move. On your moving day, your moving crew will carefully load your pre-packed items into the moving truck before transporting your belongings to your new location. After unloading the truck and placing your items with your direction, you will take inventory of your belongings to ensure that everything is in good shape and accounted for. Then, you will sign off on the completion of your move with the driver.
“Only move what you need into your new home, keeping a close eye on the floorplan. Don’t take furniture you don’t need. Decluttering is key.”
We are equipped to move you anywhere, whether you are moving in the state of Oregon, across the country, or across the globe.
We provide comprehensive packing services, using high-quality materials to secure your items, relieving you of the burden and stress of packing.
With capabilities to handle specialized items like pianos, antiques, and gun safes, our professional movers offer tailored solutions to meet your unique moving needs.
With 40,000 sq ft of climate-controlled space under 24/7 surveillance, we offer safe and secure short and long-term storage solutions, including a special offer of 30 days of free storage for customers committing to 90 days.
The cost of hiring a moving company can fluctuate depending on numerous factors such as distance, size of the move, and added services. For an accurate estimate, it’s essential for the mover to perform a complete home survey, evaluating the volume and nature of items to be relocated. According to our research, an average local move in the Portland area ranges from $500 – $4,000 depending on the size of your home, the distance you are moving, and the amount and weight of items that need to be moved.
O’Neill Transfer Moving & Storage offers both in-home and virtual in-depth surveys in order to give you an accurate estimate with no hidden fees. We take the time to observe and evaluate all your items instead of providing a blind estimate over the phone.
Most companies provide moving quotes, but ensuring these estimates are comprehensive is vital, covering all costs and services to avoid any unexpected expenses. Some companies provide estimates over the phone; however, those cannot be accurate because they couldn’t possibly have all of the information without an in-depth survey of the home or office in person or virtually, leading you to unplanned additional charges down the road. Be sure to get a written quote in the form of an Order of Service, which details and warrants all of the moving company’s services and responsibilities.
O’Neill takes this seriously and provides a detailed quote that encompasses every aspect of your move. We are transparent about our prices and services, enabling you to make informed decisions without any hidden surprises.
A full-service moving company typically caters to local and long-distance moves, offering tailored services to meet customer needs. Although most companies offer local and long-distance moves, certain companies only travel up to certain distances, so check with your company to verify. Confirming that your moving company has an in-state license for local moves and a USDOT license for long-distance moves is also essential.
At O’Neill, we’ve been serving the greater Portland area since 1920, offering local and long-distance moving services. As an interstate agent of Wheaton World Wide Van Lines, we have access to over 400 other agents nationwide, so we will ensure your local or long-distance move is as smooth as possible. Our vast experience and meticulous planning ensure your move is seamless, regardless of the distance involved.
Packing is a critical part of moving, and the availability of packing services and materials can significantly ease the moving process. Many full-service moving companies offer packing and unpacking services at an additional cost, but not all companies do, which is why you should always check with your company beforehand about this truly helpful add-on service.
O’Neill not only offers packing services but also supplies high-quality packing materials. Our packing services are honestly priced to ensure affordability without compromising the safety and integrity of your items. We can pack just a few items or the whole home. Licensing and insurance are critical considerations when choosing a moving company, as they determine if the moving company is legally allowed to complete moves. For long-distance moves, moving companies must have a United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) license number. If a moving company is an interstate agent of a national van line, it can operate under the van line’s USDOT for long-distance moves.
For local moves, which are moves within state lines, Oregon moving companies must have an Oregon Department of Transportation license number (ODOT) to operate legally. Their USDOT and state license numbers should be prominently displayed on their website for easy verification.
O’Neill Transfer Moving & Storage is fully licensed and insured. We’re an Interstate Agent of Wheaton World Wide Van Lines, with a USDOT license number of 70719. Our ODOT License Number is 251555, and our MC license number is 87113. Our accreditation and coverage provide assurance of our credibility and commitment to safeguarding your possessions.
A company’s moving crew is critical in ensuring a smooth move. Ensuring your company has background-checked movers with adequate training and experience is essential. This way, you can have peace of mind knowing your belongings are in excellent and safe hands. Ask your mover or check out their About Us page.
At O’Neill, we pride ourselves on having a team of dedicated, trained, and experienced movers who handle your items with utmost care. Background checks are a part of our hiring process, ensuring you can trust our team with your valuable possessions. Rest assured; we have members of our moving crew that have been moving with us for decades, so you can be stress-free knowing we have the experience to make your move seamless. Online reviews can provide a reliable gauge of a moving company’s performance. All moving companies should have reviews on a third-party website such as Google or Yelp, as the reviews on those sites are coming directly from customers. Many moving companies have ‘curated’ reviews on their websites, meaning they pick and choose which reviews to display without any proof that they came directly from the customer. This is why sites with reviews linked directly from Google or Yelp are always more reliable.
O’Neill has received numerous glowing 5-star reviews from numerous satisfied customers over the years, evident in our A+ rating by the BBB. The reviews on our website are linked directly to our Google Reviews, which we encourage you to view here. Our commitment to service excellence has earned us Wheaton’s Agent of the Month recognition in August 2021.
In the moving industry, ‘insurance’ is referred to as ‘valuation’. Therefore, it’s essential to understand a moving company’s valuation policy. By law, all movers have to offer Limited Liability Coverage, in which the moving company will compensate you 60 cents per pound for each damaged or lost item.
However, not all customers are satisfied with this level of coverage, which is why many moving companies offer Full Value Protection for an extra charge. With the Full Value Protection plan, the moving company will repair, place, or fully reimburse you for the current market value of any items lost or damaged during the move.
At O’Neill, we provide both Limited Liability Coverage and Full Value Protection options, enabling you to choose the level of protection that best suits your needs.
